In the spring of 1791, the new icon of the liberal left, Secretary of Treasury Alexander Hamilton, implemented an excise tax on whiskey. Well, our newly formed nation wasn’t having it!
The law was an intimidate failure; You don’t mess with our fucking Whiskey!
In the spring of 1774, farmers and distillers in western Pennsylvania rose up and all hell broke loose! Finally, in 1802 under the leadership of President Thomas Jefferson and the Republican Party they repealed Hamilton’s Bullshit Federalist tax on the sweet nectar of live known as Whiskey!
